The Alexander Writers Centre Mentorship Program

The Alexandra Writers’ Centre Society (AWCS) has opened a Call for Applications for Own Voices Alberta 2021, a mentorship program for BIPOC writers in Alberta who are at the start of their literary journey.

More information and links to forms are at Own Voices Alberta 2021

Deadline for submission of applications is on February 26 at 11:59pm MST.

They are looking for writers in the BIPOC community in Alberta, who are at the beginning of their literary journey. Successful applicants will be paired with mentors, who are well-established writers and will be dedicated to helping participants accomplish their individual writing goals. Participants will also have access to writing workshops and events. Candidates are required to submit writing samples, but they do not need to have any published works. This year, the program will be held entirely online.

The program is fully subsidized and organized in collaboration with the Writers’ Guild of Alberta and with support from the Calgary Foundation. AWCS is a non-profit organization that operates out of cSpace.
